Instagram : Royal Challengers Bengaluru outshined Chennai Super Kings twice in just four days, becoming the most followed IPL franchise on Instagram. With 17.8 million followers, they surpassed their fierce rivals, who stand at 17.7 million. Social media buzzed with reactions.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have secured their second victory over Chennai Super Kings in just four days, this time off the field, by becoming the most followed Indian Premier League team on Instagram. After ending a 17-year drought with a historic win at the M Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, RCB has now surpassed their arch-rivals on Instagram, amassing 17.8 million followers. CSK, previously the most followed IPL team, now stands at 17.7 million.
As expected, social media erupted with reactions, with fans eagerly sharing their takes on the milestone. In fact, one user even posted an edited clip from the Kollywood film Vikram to humorously celebrate RCB’s rise to the top of the social media rankings. Watch here:
Another optimistic RCB fan wrote, “CSK lose twice, MI lose twice, RCB win twice, and now RCB overtakes CSK on Instagram… Is this a sign that we’re winning the trophy this season?” Meanwhile, another fan shared a similar sentiment, stating, “We don’t need five trophies to stay relevant—we are the biggest.”
Another RCB fan is already eyeing bigger milestones, writing, “If we win just one trophy, our followers will automatically hit 20 million.”
Counterattack Begins
Not one to stay silent, a Mumbai Indians fan—whose team ranks third in Instagram followers—took a dig at RCB, saying, “The only achievement they can flex in the last 18 years.” Meanwhile, a disgruntled CSK fan responded with a sharp retort: “Followers = 17.8M, Trophies = 0.00.”

Who is Playing in Today’s IPL Match?
Five-time champions and the third most-followed IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, will host defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on March 31. Notably, KKR, with three IPL titles and 7 million Instagram followers, come into the match after bouncing back from an opening defeat at home against the league’s most popular franchise. Meanwhile, MI, on the other hand, is struggling at the bottom of the table after losing both of their opening games.
Although the Wankhede hasn’t been a favorable venue for KKR in the past, their last visit saw them emerge victorious against the home side. With MI desperate to get their first points on the board and KKR looking to build momentum, an exciting clash awaits.
Both teams will be desperate for a win—MI aiming to turn their season around, while KKR looks to improve their record in Mumbai.
