History & Origin
- National Safety was initiated by the National Safety Council (NSC) of India in 1972.
- It marks the foundation day of NSC, which was set up on March 4, 1966, by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India.
- Over time, the observance expanded into Safety Week (March 4-10) to extend safety awareness campaigns.
